That's a rather narrow minded answer but it doesn't answer the question actually asked here which is about political parties. And the problem with what you say is that if someone hacks open the uterus of a liberal democrat woman and kills her fetus (yes this has happened) she somehow doesn't seem satisfied with charging the person only with simple assault and battery. When it's your child and its wanted, somehow it becomes a life. Funny thing about that. What do you think a fetus is if it is not a baby growinga monkey? And at what particular minute do you think it turns into what you call a baby? I miscarried a little boy that died at 4 months, he was perfectly formed with all of his fingers, toes, nose, mouth, genitaliaeverything. That is why so called "Planned Parenthood" (which has nothing to do with "Parenthood", and everything to do with killing these innocent unborn children) and others like them, do not want women to have sonogramsbecause they will see that it IS a baby inside of them and then they may not want to have the abortion. Life may begin at conception; however, because it is life, it doesn't make it a baby. It also doesn't make it viable. But, most importantly, just because you have your whackadoodle beliefs, doesn't mean that you also have the right to shove them down anybody's throats or up anybody's uterus. The day your lot start taking responsibility for your actions like feeding those babies you force into the world as well as their mothers, stopping wars for religion/oil, educating everyone, that will be the day in which you may, could, possibly have a saying. Until then, if you want a country run by religion, MOVE TO EFFING IRAQ!
FYI Meph., to answer your question, I'm reading three biology and neuroscience books right now. And I'll bet I've studied a lot more biology than you, including doctoral level neuroscience at a well known Ivy League University. Want to compare notes on neuroanatomy sometime? This topic is one of the greatest logical failings of the Democratic party, it's sad because they're generally otherwise intelligent people. You KNOW where life comes from if you've actually opened a biology book yourself, and you KNOW it doesn't begin when a baby comes out of the womb, that would be. GASP. a Godlike magical act, now wouldn't it, that one day there is no life inside a woman, and the next day there is a fully formed human baby in her arms. That's kind of like the Ancient Greek story of Athena leaping fully formed and armed from the head of Zeus. But you know better don't you? Or haven't YOU ever read a biology book?
You will never get everyone to agree when a clump of cells becomes a human. So stop trying. BOTH sides need to stop ramming this shit down everyones' throat. You want an abortion, go get one, but don't expect anyone else to pay for it or the govt to force any doctor to do it. It was done for decades this way, in the face of a much more christian population, with no issue. The issues started because the proabortion side had to start rubbing this crap in the other side's face. "Let's fund it, let's have govt run clinics, let's make sure doctors and pharmacists have to do it." Now there's two incredibly polarized sides with equally idiotic extreme opinions (it's a human once two cells run into each other, or it's not a human until it flops out into the world).
Both sides just need to chill and back off. Don't wave your right to an abortion all over the place. Don't worry if other people are getting abortions. Don't ask, don't, tell don't force, don't fund.
Some people who are Republicans and some people who are Democrats believe these things. But not all. So let's agree that this is an overgeneralization and oversimplification of these beliefs and issues.
There are people out there with "liberal" beliefs who hold animal rights/life to be sacred. Yet discount the sanctity of human life, such as that of an unborn child. Yet who advocate hunting of animals, much to the dismay of animal rights activists.
People are individuals, with beliefs which are quite personal. No single political party, or affiliation, will ever encompass the totality of all those individual beliefs; so arbitrarily labeling everybody of one particular political affiliation as unified under any particular belief is absurd and, in fact, counterproductive.
As to whether there is a political party which doesn't like, or advocate, killing, I'm not sure. Pacifist Party, whose political platform includes reducing military expenditures to zero and developing nonviolent means to take the place of military violence for achieving justice and peace. wow. First you haven't a clue about the formation of human life, then you haven't a clue about the mechanics of abortion, and yet you are willing to voice your opinion in public. Aren't you afraid that will make public your dark little secret? Or are you in fact proud of your ignorance? It might surprise you that I'm not a Jesus follower and I'm not particularly against killing babies, I'm only against hypocrisy and ignorance. If you want to father a baby and then kill it, go ahead, knock yourself out, I hope it makes you happy. Read the many postings I've put up and you'll find I've never tried to say you shouldn't. I've only said that it is indeed a human life, which it is. I'm also not against owning guns and have owned several myself, but I'm against idiots thinking that they are somehow is useful as "self protection" which statistics say they are not.
How come Democrats say Republicans are "hatefilled" when their party has a superfluity of members who espoused killing Bush?
Why are the so called progressive liberals (secular progressives) so against killing anyone? They wanted the prisoners in Gitmo treated like it was Club Med. If Hitler existed today, they'd want him treated with kid gloves. What is their convoluted logic to anything they believe in?
Why are democrats all for killing defenseless children with a scissors and vacuum in the womb but against it in a school with a gun?
